The mechanism is the oldest known complex scientific calculator. It contains many gears, and is sometimes called the first known analog computer.
Proof that we successfully went back in time to donate technology and accelerate progress. It obviously didn’t work, so they tried again around the 14th century. Now we just have to wait and see if we get warp drive before the sun explodes this time around. *crosses fingers*
